Nude, bald and isolated, Nikki’s figures are suspended in moments of contemplative reflection. Her distinctive characters emerged as a young teen, expressing an evocative vulnerability that continues to permeate her work.
A self-taught artist, her intuitive artistic process is evident in her unique amalgam of mediums. Fusing together traditional oil paint and plastic materials, Nikki draws on a range of influences including the vibrant colors and shapes of abstract expressionism, the stoic figures of antiquity and the visual sensibility of computer generated images.
Raised in the Bay Area during the technology boom of the 1990’s, from an early age she was inspired by the excitement of innovation, and her work exhibits a visible reverence for the imaginative capabilities of the human brain.
In 2004, she earned her degree in marketing communications from Emerson College in Boston, MA, however was anxious to pursue art. Seeking an artistic education and perhaps a bit of adventure, she relocated to Rome, Italy where she remained for three years before returning to New York City in 2008.
